I saw this film at Sundance 08 and I absolutely loved it. Writer/Director Daniel Barnz does an amazing job with this imaginative story about a young girl dealing with the absence of her mother while trying to act out for a connection. I think that this film is a must see for anyone who loves great stories.

This is beautiful movie! It is visually stunning and it transports you into wonderland with the rest of the characters. The acting is tremendous. Elle Fanning gives a performance beyond her years. Patricia Clarkson is magical and bewtiching as the eccentric drama teacher. Felicity Huffman gives a magnificent performance and is tremendous in every scene she is in.

Everything about this movie is great...the writing...directing...acting ...music...sets. It is one of the best films I've ever seen about the rewards and challenges of parenting and childhood. What I really liked about it is that it tackles difficult issues with such grace, and yet it doesn't let anyone off the hook. I would recommend this to ANYONE (although children under the age of about 12, will probably have a lot of questionsunless they are very sophisticated). Don't wait to see it on DVD, it deserves to be seen in the theater where the great direction, design and cinematography can be fully appreciated. Watch out for Daniel Barnz..this is an amazing directorial debut. Elle Fanning is perfect as Phoebe...she is not just another cute kid, she is seriously talented...and so is the rest of the cast.

This was an extremely moving, touching story. It started out a bit slow, but when it picked up, I was hooked.
